Manufacture of Variable Message Sign Steel Structure
The manufacture of a Type C Variable Message Sign Structure for J1 LED, which will be placed on the Pacific Highway at Springwood. Supply, fabrication and galvanising of a steel structure to suit type C variable message sign, consisting of gantry column, gantry sign frame, a platform with handrail, including swinging gate, ladder with fall protection, adjusting rod assemblies, and 6mm HD bolt plate rings. All welding is in accordance with AS/NZ 1554.1.
Scope of works includes: galvanised steel anti-throw screen and balustrade steelwork, including steel bike railings and bridge mounted light brackets. Overall, the project consisted of 188T of galvanised and powder coated steelwork representing 8,264 individual pieces. All welding is in accordance with AS/NZ 1554.1. The installed steelwork's quality and presentation indicate what the Neumann Fabrication team strives to achieve.
Neumann Fabrication was awarded the supply, manufacture and erection of the structural steelwork for Bus Canopy #1, #2 and the Amenities Block. Bus Canopy #1 also included the supply of perforated aluminium screen panels that portray the image of the old steam train that used to service Byron Bay. All welding is in accordance with AS/NZ 1554.1. The steelwork consisted of approximately 80 tonnes of complex heavy steel box columns and rafters.
Worongary to Robina M1 Upgrade – Steel Fabrication Works
Steel fabrication works consisted of; galvanized steel cover plates for concrete median barriers; holding down bolts for the bridge deck units; galvanised steel bridge traffic rails; galvanised steel VMS cantilevered structures; circular hollow section support steelwork for two wildlife walkways; galvanised steel cable trays and steel support frames; stainless steel alignment support brackets.
Steel construction works included: the supply, manufacture and heavy transport of the steel bridge gantry, including aluminium powder-coated steel screen frames, handrails, balustrades and bridge bearings. All welding is in accordance with AS/NZ 1554.1. Overall, there was approx—170 T of fabricated steelwork. The gantry was divided into three fabricated steel sections at 45m in length per section. All steelwork was completed on time and on budget.
Neumann Fabrication was awarded the steel fabrication and installation of the Underwood Road bridge anti-throw screens and Variable Message Signs (VMS) gantry structures.
The steelwork included manufacturing and installing seven cantilevered VMS gantries, two large portal frame gantries, and bridge Lane Use Management System (LUMS) bracket steelwork.
Fabrication of a “Koala Crossing” as a part of the Mount Cotton Road and Alperton Road intersection upgrade undertaken by McIlwain Civil. The bridge will ensure the koalas’ safe passage across the busy Mount Cotton Road. The project involved the fabrication of a 26-metre long bridge structure with some complex joints and connections. The job was given the finishing touches by the industrial coatings team, which helped blend the large structure into its natural bushland setting.
Neumann Contractors were engaged as the fabrication contractor to carry out the fabrication and Coating of the Arrival Pontoon Structure at the One and Only Resort Hayman Island. This project consisted of seven 1.4 m diameter rolled plate chambers coated inside and out to endure the marine conditions at Hayman Island. A great project where Neumann Contractors assembled the whole structure at our yard and Entire Network Solutions fitted and tested the digital sign before transport to site. Neumann Fabrication was engaged to carry out the fabrication of two Switch Room structures fabricated out of steel. The switch room was a challenging project as the overall dimension of the first Switch Room being 16m x 4.7m x 3.6m, and the second Switch Room was 24m x 6.7m x 3.2m needed to be fabricated coated transported in one piece. The primary function of an electrical switchroom is to protect electrical switchgear and associated equipment from the surrounding environments.
The six Cantilever Variable Message Signs (VMS) are part of the South Road Superway project to upgrade the whole of South Road (from Gawler to Old Noarlunga) to a high standard, high-speed arterial link. A variable message sign, often abbreviated VMS, is an electronic traffic sign often used on roadways to give travellers information about special events. Such signs warn of traffic congestion, accidents, incidents, roadwork zones, or speed limits on a specific highway segment.

Prefabricated footing cages were completely fitted with hold down bolt assemblies minimising trades on site and helping to meet construction program deadlines.
